Let's Talk About Cleaning Supplies?

Cleaning supplies? Yes, because it's a DINKY thing to do.

My boyfriend makes fun of me when I attempted to use the toilet bowl cleaner since I can never swirl it around with the same ease that he does...which usually results in me handing off that task (see my advice on cohabitation here). Anyway, he teases me about growing up with a maid, which is not true at all. We had a cleaning woman... who came every other week, and to my defense, I totally had to pick up my room before she came.

It is true though, when it comes to cleaning, outside of the basics I felt pretty clueless. When I moved out on my own I suddenly realized how quickly the toilet got dirty. I think I have my college roommates to thank as they were the magic cleaning fairies doing it without me knowing (thanks loves).

When we bought our condo I started to care a lot more about taking care of cabinets and appliances. It blows my mind how dirty the place gets and how much time it takes in upkeep. I often offer to host at my place for the sole reason that it gets us to bunker down and get the place to sparkle again.

Here are the three cleaning products I have since discovered that are life changing (you know, in a household cleaner kind of way).

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Cleaning Pads
I was convinced that we had to repaint the front door because it was so scuffed up. Then my friend introduced me to magic erasers. Magic. In case you want to hear it right from Mr. Clean, they clean scuff marks and dirt from walls, floors and doors, remove set-in dirt on stoves, refrigerators and other appliances AND break up tough bathroom soap scum.

If you're still not convinced, I also recently saved a pair of flats by wiping away scuff marks with these things. Ahhhmazing. Above is a pair of sandals I tested it out on as well.

Weiman Stainless Steel Wipes/Spray
I know you'd like to thank your steel don't stain
But lean a little bit closer
See that steel really stains like ew-ew-ew
Yeah, your steel really stains like ew-ew-ew
That is all.

Cerama Bryte Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner
I'm a self proclaimed terrible chef. My biggest stove top casualty was the time I decided to leave tomato soup warming on the stove at like a level 8, whoops. I never had an electric stove growing up so when paper towel wasn't enough to clean the mess I found this bad boy for the win.
